STEP BY STEP GUIDE The STAP Budget no longer exist, but for those who have been in the proces of getting the subsidy and need to look something up see the application proces below: The application process is mainly managed in Dutch, so we recognize the need for guidance for non-Dutch speakers. This step by step guide aims to bridge the language gap and make the application process easier for people who don't (yet) speak Dutch well! Below, we take you through the online application process, one step at a time, using easy-to-follow instructions paired with detailed screenshots. This way, you'll get a clear picture of what to expect and how to navigate each stage. |
Before starting the process you must first find and register with a course provider. You can find information on approved courses here.
After you have signed up for a course, you will receive a STAP aanmeldbewijs (STAP proof of registration), in PDF format. Be aware that you must have this PDF document ready when you start the STAP application process. |
After the date for the next round of STAP funding has been announced, go to the official STAP Budget website. Make sure you have already registered for a course and that you have your STAP aanmeldbewijs (STAP proof of registration) in PDF format ready. Be aware that demand for the STAP Budget is high. You will need to log in at least 30 minutes before the opening time for the application process on the day that the next round of funding will begin. |
Wait in the queue. The page shows you how much time you have left until your application can begin, It warns you that, due to the number of people trying to make an application, there may be no budget left by the time your application will start. It then informs you that you can learn more about the available budget at the 'meldingenpagina', which means 'notifications page'.
Waiting time can add up to more than 2 hours. Don't close your browser in the meantime as you will lose your place in the line then. |
When it's your turn ("u bent nu aan de beurt"), you will be directed to this page, which invites you to Log in met DigiD.
Be aware that you will need to have arranged your DigiD in advance. More information about DigiD can be found here. |
After having chosen to log in using your DigiD, you will be directed to this screen, which will give you the option to log in using an ID card, a username and password, or the DigiD smartphone app. The easiest option is the smartphone app and we'd advise you to set this up on your phone in advance of making your STAP Budget application.
After you have passed through the log in process using the DigiD app on your smartphone, you will be requested to upload a document (the "STAP-aanmeldingsbewijs"). Be aware that in advance of applying for your STAP Budget you must first select and apply for a course. Your school or trainer will then supply you with the STAP-aanmeldbewijs to and get you a student number for the STAP Budget.
On this page you will be requested to upload the "STAP-aanmeldingsbewijs" form ("kies bestand") and to provide your student number ("student, klant- of inschrijvingsnummer"). |
You will then see the STAP website again. Now the name of the document you uploaded will be visible next to the Kies bestand (choose file) button.
Next you will need to insert your student identification number (student, klant- of inschrijvingsnummer) as indicated on the STAP-aanmeldingsbewijs and given to you by your provider of the course. |
Next you will be required to enter details concerning your school or training institute.
This page allows you to use a search function to find your school or training institute. Enter the name of the school or training institute with which you have registered under 'naam opleider'. Or enter the name of the course you have chosen under 'naam scholing'. Then click on "Zoek" (search). |
Next you will be asked "beantwoord de onderstaande vragen over uw situatie alstublieft" (please answer the following questions about your situation).
This section consists of number of questions. You are asked why you are following this study (met welk doel?). You can choose "omscholen" (learning for a change in your career path) or "bijscholen" (improving your chances in your present career path). "Hoogste afgeronde opleiding" means what is the highest level of education that you achieved. If you're not sure click "Anders" (other). |
The next question is 'Wat is uw huidige arbeidsmarktpositie?' (what is your current position in the labour market?).
The possible answers are: werzoekend (looking for work); werkloos (unemployed); werkend met tijdelijk contract (working under a temporary contract); ZZP (freelance); student; or Anders (other). Choose one of the answers and move on. Following this, choose which sector or branch of the economy you are have been active in (in welke sector/branche was u actief?). |
